Moss poles with the perfect filling

In contrast to coconutsticks, a real mosspole is much more than just a support medium. It is a growth medium for aerial roots, and thus an extension of your pot. The roots grow attached to the pole and can absorb more nutrients. Coconut sticks from garden centers do not absorb water and do not allow roots to attach to them. Plastic varieties hold water better, but at the expense of the natural look and strength of the pole. With PlantStuff's moss poles, the solution is found through a combination of sphagnum moss and coconut coir chunks encased by sturdy steel mesh!

Together they stand strong

Sphagnum moss and coconut chunks are a golden combination as a moss pole filler. Together they provide the perfect balance between water management and plant root health. The ability to retain water is essential for a moss pole, and this is where coconut coir chunks come in handy. Coconut coir chunks have a greater mass than sphagnum moss and are less aerated, which allows less water to evaporate and keeps the post moist longer. In addition, coconut fiber contains naturally occurring essential nutrients that contribute to plant health. On the other hand, sphagnum moss is known for its use in propagating cuttings because of the excellent growing conditions it provides. The airy texture and water-holding capacity of the moss make it an ideal climbing pole component. In addition, sphagnum moss is sterile and possesses antibacterial properties, preventing infections and ensuring a healthy environment for plants. Together, they form an unbeatable substrate for moss posts, maximizing the benefits of both materials.
